Ensure a qualified, diverse and active committee. This Goal is intended to maintain the health of the committee by identifying a diverse membership stream and by providing training and mentoring opportunities to enhance the committee's efficiency and effectiveness.
Strategy 1. Establish a Subcommittee on Membership that will develop a strategy to increase participation from academia, the private sector, other non-highway modal organizations, and from under-represented geographic regions.
Strategy 2. Establish a mentor program for new members and assign an existing committee member to all new members to serve as a mentor. Define roles and responsibilities of mentors and establish a process for beginning and ending these formal relationships.
Strategy 3. Develop a committee succession plan that utilizes the Friends list and the revised "Sign In Sheet" to get leads on potential new members.
Strategy 4. Develop a packet for new members of the CoR Committee that includes all pertinent information and products of the committee.
Strategy 5. Develop well designed midyear meeting agendas to encourage participation from all members and friends of the committee.
Strategy 6. Finalize CoR strategic plan.
